Aims
EMECA aims to bring together European major exhibition centres with a strong investment profile and an international dimension. EMECA strives to improve the quality and availability of technical and commercial information on fairs and exhibitions in Europe and also promotes the exchange of ideas and experience in managing exhibition centres and researches the scope for harmonising technical regulations on a consistent European basis.
The basic aims of EMECA:
Establishing quality standards
Quality is a main leverage for strategic development. Standardisation and development of quality processes improve customers' perception of the exhibition as a whole. For instance, whilst customer accessibility of the exhibition centres is getting increasingly important in respect of demographic trends, EMECA compiled a study "Accessibility of the main European trade fair sites".

Developing communication
Economic markets fundamentally emerge and grow by interaction of people. The communication channel "exhibitions and fairs" is getting more and more popular, thus increasing networking opportunities for all participants - exhibitors and visitors alike. EMECA focuses on creating sustainable frameworks to successfully bring together people and markets. This adds further strength to Europe as a business location.

Mapping EU Politics
EMECA is the interface for exhibition centres to the European Union. A special working group meets regularly in Brussels to discuss topics of general interest for its members. Many of its original aims have already been achieved. Nevertheless, long term commitment to the European institutions is needed to make EMECA's voice heard, and this calls for further active participation from all members.
