The European Commission funded initiative “Business Beyond Borders” (BBB) concluded its first cycle of events this week with highly successful matchmaking sessions at VISION Stuttgart, where over 500 business meetings between 247 companies from 35 countries were facilitated.

SMEs, Clusters operating in the machine vision industry will have the opportunity to meet potential partners from all over the world and seek out business opportunities together. This event marks the end of the cycle of 10 events.

2018 will again be a very good year for the major exhibition centres in Europe with revenue growth for nearly all Members. At the recent EMECA General Assembly held at Fira Barcelona, members gave positive feedback about their trade fairs in 2018, many even prepare for record results. EMECA President Claude Membrez (CEO Palexpo Geneva) explains: “This is a general trend, even for those with weaker years in 2018 due to the cycle of their exhibitions. What may be highlighted is that both Italy and Spain are fully back to normal business and are successfully implementing and hosting trade fairs and other events.” In addition, innovation continues with a solid number of new exhibitions planned 2019 both at the home venues and abroad.

Over EUR 120 billion socio-economic effects created by EMECA Members' exhibition activity

The 22 large and leading trade fair venues in Europe united in the Major European Exhibition Centres Association (EMECA) generate a significant socio-economic impact for the immediate surroundings of a venue, for the wider region and on national or transnational level. A new impact study conducted by KPMG on behalf of EMECA reveals the economic power of the exhibition industry in Europe and of EMECA Members’ venues in particular.

EMECA and UFI renew and strengthen the European Exhibition Industry Alliance at Global Exhibitions Day 2018

EMECA, the European Major Exhibition Centers Association, and UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, have agreed to extend the European Exhibition Industry Alliance (EEIA), which aims to represent the interests of the exhibition industry to EU stakeholders in Brussels. The joint agreement has been extended for another three years and given increased resources. Barbara Weizsäcker will continue as Secretary General.
